Rights and Responsibilities: Review with Class. Brainstorm.

Who is responsible for ensuring safety in the classroom? 

What rights do the students have?

What responsibilities do students have?

After Brainstorm: Answer Key:


We are now going to think about what rights and responsibilities employers and workers have towards safety.

Group Work: Max group size 4.

Your group to choose a job that you do or may do in the future (garden worker, busboy, warehouse worker, kitchen worker, babysitter, etc.) 

Group Questions:

• What do I have the right to expect from my employer?
• What responsibilities do I have?
• What does my employer have the right to expect from me? •What responsibilities does my employer have? 

Group to put all answers on one sheet of paper with all group names on it. 

Note: One side of the paper: employee rights and responsibilities and the other side employer rights and responsibilities

You will receive a scenario (1-5 as listed below).

Your group to brainstorm and list the responsibilities of the worker and employer in the scenario. Group to put all answers on one sheet of paper with all group names on it.

The safety of workers is everyone’s job. Workers and employers play a crucial role in ensuring a safe workplace. Remember your responsibilities as a worker and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
